Dr. Sanford is often called upon
by the media for her expertise in the area of women’s
health. She has appeared nationally on numerous
television and radio shows such as MSNBC Crosstalk,
and Good Morning America. She has been interviewed
for stories in the New York Times, Washington Post,
Parents,
Redbook,
Ebony, Cosmopolitan, Ladies
Home Journal and many major women’s publications.
As a media panel expert for the American Psychological
Association, she has consulted with trial lawyers
and provided evaluations and testimonies for postpartum
homicide cases. She is a member of the speaker’s
bureau for the Spirit of Women Hospitals and received
an award for clinical excellence in 1999 for her
focus in the area of women’s health. Currently,
she serves on the Board of Consultants for the International
Childbirth Educators Association. She is a past
Board member for Depression after Delivery and Postpartum
Support International.
Dr. Sanford has appeared locally on St. Louis Television
News Stations such as Newschannel 5, News 4, Channel
11, HDTV and FOX 2. She has been interviewed frequently
by the St. Louis Post Dispatch and Suburban Journals.
She currently serves as an advisor for the newly
released book, Raising
Babies in St. Louis, An Expert Guide for New
& Expectant Parents. Dr. Sanford is the Clinical
Advisor for Mother to Mother Telephone Support,
a free community based phone support program for
pregnant and postpartum moms and serves as an adjunct
Associate Professor in the School of Public Health
at St. Louis University. She is a past Board member
for the Barnes-Jewish Hospital postpartum advisory
board and St. John’s Mercy Hospital postpartum advisory
board.
In the past year, Dr. Sanford has expanded her expertise
online by assisting parenting sites, such as babycenter.com
as a medical advisory board member.
